Evian-les-Bains (France): India’s Aditi Ashok has missed out a place in 2016’s Evian Championship, the fifth Major, to be held from September 15 to 18. Aditi, who shot 75 in the first round, carded 73 in the second round to finish six-over 148. Aditi, 18, playing in her rookie year had two birdies, two bogeys and one double bogey at the Par-71 course. In the first round she had five bogeys against just one birdie. Maria Verchenova of Russia and Nanna Koerstz Madsen of Denmark grabbed the two berths for the Evian Championship.

Verchenova, from Moscow, shot rounds of 71 and 69 over the two-day European qualifier at Evian Resort Golf Club in Evian-les-Bains for a total of one-under-par 141 to finish two strokes ahead of Koerstz Madsen, who had rounds of 72 and 71. The potential Olympians are the first two players to qualify and will be joined by two more qualifiers from the United States Symetra Tour and one player from the Korean Dream Tour. The Evian Championship is the only Major in continental Europe and the final women’s Major of the year.
