2026 T20 World Cup: Ahmedabad to host opener and final, Semifinal in Wankhede Stadium

The final for the 2026 T20 World Cup is likely going to be held in Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium, with Wankhede to host the semi-final clash.

Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium has been named to host one of the semi-finals, whereas Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium is going to host the opening clash of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 – which is likely going to begin in February. Notably, Ahmedabad has been the host the both the matches in the 2023 World Cup as well.

As per the terms and conditions, if India and Pakistan face each other in the semi-final clash, the two teams will play in Colombo, and the second semi-final set to be held in Mumbai. This comes as Sri Lanka is the co-host for the tournament.

The tournament is going to be played across seven different venues in India and Sri Lanka. Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata and Ahmedabad are likely going to host from the Indian side – whereas the island nation will use three venues. Apart from the Premadasa Stadium, Pallekele and one from Dambulla or Dambantota will be the other two grounds.

Though there is no clarity on the warm-up games, there are chances that Bengaluru might get a few of those. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has not decided whether they will host the warm-ups in the Centre of Excellence (CoE) or whether the warm-up games will be played in Chinnaswamy Stadium.

The Indian team is expected to play in four major cities, namely, Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata and Chennai. As mentioned above, Narendra Modi Stadium has been shortlisted to host the final, with the International Cricket Council (ICC) expected to announce the schedule in the upcoming days.
