Afghanistan pacer Naveen-ul-Haq has been recovering from a shoulder injury, but the medical team has deemed him unfit- and hence he is ruled out from the Asia Cup 2025.

The 25-year-old pacer had earlier missed out of the UAE tri-series also involving Pakistan, but was included in Afghanistan’s squad for the Asia Cup. However, the ACB have now confirmed that the medical team has not cleared him to play, and he will miss this tournament as well.

The ACB wishes Naveen Ul Haq a speedy recovery and extends its best wishes to Abdullah Ahmadzai for the matches ahead. Naveen will continue to undergo intensive treatment and rehabilitation until he is fully fit,” the ACB said in a statement.

Ahmadzai, 22, who was among the reserves for the Asia Cup, played in the tri-series in the absence of Naveen-ul-Haq. That was his international debut against UAE, where he also took 1/31 in three overs.
