Regarding the no-telecast issue of the Duleep Trophy, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has finally opened up about the topic.
Considering the backlash on social media, BCCI president Devajit Saikia has finally opened up and assured that the finale of the tournament- which is going to be held between September 11 and 15- will be aired live for all the fans to witness.
Since the Indian national side is not engaged in any assignment after the end of the Test series against England- with the next international match beginning September 10- fans were excited to enjoy the domestic season till then.
It is to be noted that the number of viewership of domestic cricket over the past few years has increased rapidly, leading the BCCI being firm on all the contracted players partaking in the circuit while being away from any sort of national duties. However, fans are ‘frustrated‘ over the board for not airing this season’s first domestic tournament.
“There will be a live telecast of the final of the Duleep Trophy. We have an agreement with our broadcaster to ensure live telecast of 100 days of domestic cricket, which means that all our domestic tournaments are covered live. The BCCI gives utmost importance to domestic cricket, which is why you will see that almost all the India players are in action in these matches,” Devajit said while speaking to the Times of India.
