The Indian team had to face a number of injuries with their players, which forced head coach Gautam Gambhir and captain Shubman Gill to make big changes in the playing XI. Anshul Kamboj marking his red-ball debut was one such change.

Anshul Kamboj became the 11th Indian player to make his Test debut in Manchester. He has become the first player in 35 years to mark his debut at the Old Trafford Stadium. Anil Kumble was the last one to make their debut at the venue, which was in 1990.

Speaking about Anshul Kamboj making his debut- it was because the Indian team suffered a series of injuries. As Arshdeep Singh was ruled out of the fourth Test as he cut his bowling arm during a practice session, Kamboj was brought in as his replacement.

Akash Deep was also ruled out of the fourth Test as he had a groin issue. Hence, Anshul Kamboj was brought in to replace the right arm medium pacer.
