Arshdeep Singh playing Duleep Trophy as Warm-up for Asia Cup? Here’s what the pacer said…

Arshdeep Singh is currently playing in the Duleep Trophy, and stated that he is using this time in order to prepare himself for the upcoming Asia Cup.

The Asia Cup is going to begin September 9 and will end September 28. Indian team got announced recently, and will begin their campaign on September 10 with clash against UAE. Arshdeep Singh is one of the players named in the national squad for the tournament.

Arshdeep Singh sustained an injury in his bowling hand, due to which he got ruled out from the fourth and fifth Test of the recent tour of England. However, he mentioned that he was with the Indian team where he trained and worked with his strength and conditioning.

I felt really good. The last couple of months I was with the (Indian) team, trained a lot, bowled a lot and worked a lot with the S&C (strength and conditioning). Here, I bowled a decent long spell, 17 overs. It is coming out well and the body felt well,” he said.

Now, Arshdeep Singh is going to operate with a white-ball in the Asia Cup, as he will be seen bowling in UAE. Arshdeep is completely convinced about his adaptability with the ball. “In the last Test (at the Oval against England), I started training with a white ball. I didn’t know that there was a Duleep Trophy match in between. The workload was properly managed,” he said.

Since he is playing in the Duleep Trophy as of now, Arshdeep Singh stated that he is using this tournament in order to bowl as preparation overs ahead of the grand tournament.

I don’t know how many thousands of balls I bowled in practice. There was no lack of bowling. At the end of the day, white or red ball, you just play. At the end of the day, you just have to play cricket and you have to enjoy it. I got a chance to play here and will next play with a white ball (Asia Cup). The aim is to have a lot of overs under the belt,” he noted.
