Jacob Bethell ruled out of IPL 2025 playoff

Royal Challengers Bengaluru opener Jacob Bethell is set to miss the playoffs due to national commitment. Bethell will leave the tournament after RCB’s last league match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on May 23 to join the England team.

Tim Seifert replaces Jacob Bethell

Royal Challengers Bengaluru have signed New Zealand’s Tim Seifert as a replacement for England’s Jacob Bethell.


Tim Seiferts joins RCB for Rs 2 crore

Tim Seifert, has scored 1,540 runs in 66 T20 matches for New Zealand, he has limited IPL experience, having played just three games, with his last appearance in 2022. He joins RCB for ₹2 crore.

What RCB said in their official statement

“Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have signed Tim Seifert as Jacob Bethell is set to leave from TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 for England on May 24, 2025 – following RCB’s league-stage game against Sunrisers Hyderabad on May 23, 2025 – to join the England team,” the statement added.

Bethell played only 2 maches for RCB

Bethell played two matches for Bengaluru this year and scored 67 runs. His highest score was 55 runs. The 22-year-old player batted at a strike rate of 171.79.

RCB has qualified for the playoffs.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru have qualified for the playoffs. They are currently in second place on the points table with 17 points from 11 matches. RCB will play against Lucknow Super Giants on May 27th at the Ekana Cricket Stadium. Gujarat Titans, Punjab Kings, and Mumbai Indians are the other teams that have qualified for the playoffs.
