BCCI reveals: Opens up on dropping Sarfaraz Khan from West Indies series

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has finally revealed the reason of dropping star player Sarfaraz Khan from the squad.

The Indian cricket team has officially announced their squad for the upcoming much-awaited Test series against West Indies. However, India played their last test series against England.

However, the Indian team have announced their squad against West Indies. Several players who were a part of the Indian team are not included, like: Abhimanyu Easwaran, Shardul Thakur, Sarfaraz Khan. Fans are shocked after not seeing Sarfaraz’s name on the list.

Sarfaraz khan century

Star Indian player Sarfaraz Khan, who recently stunned everyone by working on his body and losing a lot of weight. Sarfaraz played matches for India A on the England tour. However, he was not in the main squad and played for the Indian team against New Zealand in October 2024.


However, after not getting shortlisted in the Indian squad against West Indies. BCCI Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar was asked about Sarfaraz Khan’s absence which he clearly replied that ”He is injured.”

However, there are some more great changes and updates made in the squad against West Indies starting from October 2. Star player Devdutt Padikkal gets a chance to show his potential and skills in the series. On the other hand, it will also help him to gain more experience with his senior teammate Ravindra Jadeja, who appointed as the vice-captain of the team.

Devdutt Padikkal played his last Test match in the very first game of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in November 2024, where he failed to score a big knock and was dismissed on the scores of 0 and 25 in two innings. However, earlier this month, Padikkal smashed a massive century against Australia A in the unofficial Test in Lucknow.
