The Champions Trophy 2025 was played under the hosting of Pakistan. Though the Men in Green were eliminated in the early phase, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) earned a lot from this tournament.
The PCB has claimed that as they hosted the Champions Trophy 2025, they made a total of Rs. 3 billion, which is more than their target of Rs. 2 billion. PCB made this claim in a written note as a response to the National Assembly as they had raised their concerns on the team's poor performances.
The PCB also confirmed in their reply that a total of Rs. 18 billion is being spent for the renovations of stadiums in Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi. Board also stated that the renovation will be complete by 2025.
"The PCB undergoes two audits annually at the end of its financial year. The audits for the current financial year will be done after June 30, 2025." the PCB said while claiming that there has been no increase n the budget due to the Champions Trophy.
Speaking about the poor performance by the Pakistan national team, PCB blamed the playing conditions and injured players to be the factors. "Key players suffered injuries at crucial moments which affected the balance and strategy of the team."
The PCB has also stated that the final number of the Champions Trophy will be confirmed after the ICC completes their financial audit. The board has stated that there was no over-spending as the entire tournament was managed by ICC.
