‘Committed to his fitness…’: Maharashtra Chief selector believes Prithvi Shaw is walking his way to his goals

Maharashtra Chief selector Akshay Darekar has seen Prithvi Shaw’s new energy and his wish to work on his fitness, and he believes that Prithvi even has a chance to complete his dream of reaching India international. Akshay also believes that Shaw is on the correct path in his career, and this season can witness a turnaround in his career.

“Prithvi is on the right track. There was never an issue with his batting. He is focused and keen to make a statement with his bat. He is completely committed to his fitness too and has been doing his training drills religiously,” Darekar was quoted as saying by Mid-Day.

Though he is taken as one of the most exciting talent during his teenage years, Prithvi Shaw’s international career faced a downfall after just 5 Test matches, 6 ODIs and a T20I- with him playing his last international match in July 2021.

Even after his international career facing a downfall, Prithvi Shaw has been active in the domestic circuit, constantly scoring runs. This year also he has played very well in the domestics, to which Akshay praised the ignored star player.

“We know he always likes to play aggressively and dominate the opposition. And he batted the same way in his first two matches for Maharashtra at the Buchi Babu Tournament. His class was evident in both those knocks. He is hungry to score big runs. The target is to help Maharashtra reach the Ranji knockouts through his strong performances,” said Darekar.
