Dhruv Jurel’s maiden Test Century: Unique celebration for his Father and Indian Army wins hearts

The hosts wrapped up the visitors for 162 runs, and had a lead of 286 runs. Wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel was a key player in establishing this lead.

Dhruv Jurel is the assigned wicketkeeper-batter for India with Rishabh Pant being absent from the series due to an injured foot. Dhruv played with magnificent form and crossed the triple-digit mark with elegance and composure. After reaching his half-century, he did his usual salute celebration- a gesture that is dedicated to his father.

However, what caught the eyes of everyone was what happened when Dhruv Jurel kept batting and eventually breached the 100-run mark. The 24-year-old made a special celebration, which is a gesture that is going viral and winning hearts of all the cricket fans. What actually happened was, Dhruv used his bat and recreated an army march drill.


After stumps were called, Dhruv Jurel revealed that he he dedicated his century to his father and the Indian Army. “The celebration at fifty was for my father and the celebration after the hundred was for the army. I always have my respect for them for what they do on the battlefield,” he said.
