Dinesh Karthik shocks with his India T20 World Cup XI! MS Dhoni leads, Gambhir left out. See full team and the surprising choices.
Karthik chose Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli as openers over Gambhir and Virender Sehwag. Rohit is the only Indian to have won the T20 World Cup twice. At no. 3, he picked current T20I skipper Suryakumar Yadav over Robin Uthappa. When asked to choose between Yuvraj Singh and Shivam Dube, he had no hesitation. Yuvraj was instrumental in the inaugural T20 World Cup, blasting Stuart Broad for six sixes in one over and scoring a blistering 70 against Australia in the semifinals.
Dhoni is Karthik’s wicketkeeper-batsman, chosen ahead of Rishabh Pant. Dhoni was a youthful captain who led India to World Cup victory after 24 years. Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja filled the all-rounders slots, while Joginder Sharma and Irfan Pathan were left out.
In the bowling department, he had a difficult choice between Harbhajan Singh and Axar Patel. With one left-arm orthodox spinner already in the squad, he went with Harbhajan. While Harbhajan can hit the ball well, Axar is considered the stronger batter in this role.
The rest of the bowling attack comes from the current era. He selected Arshdeep Singh, Kuldeep Yadav, and Jasprit Bumrah. Karthik’s XI did not include the fiery S Sreesanth or RP Singh.

Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Yuvraj Singh, MS Dhoni (c & wk), Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Harbhajan Singh, Arshdeep Singh, Kuldeep Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah.
