Joe Root is just 283 runs short of surpassing Rahul Dravid on the list of highest run-scorers in Test cricket. The former Indian captain ended his career with 13,288 runs in 164 matches and is one of only two Indian players to have scored over 10,000 runs in two formats. Dravid finished with an impressive Test average of 52.31.

The right-handed batsman is also close to overtaking Jacques Kallis on the list of highest Test run-scorers. Kallis finished his career with 13,289 runs.

Sachin Tendulkar retired as the highest run-scorer in Test cricket, amassing 15,921 runs in 200 matches and scoring 51 centuries. He is followed by Ricky Ponting, who scored 13,378 runs in 168 Tests with 41 centuries. Joe Root is currently in excellent form and has the potential to finish his career as the leading run-scorer in Test cricket.

The India-England Test series begins on June 20, with the opening match in Leeds. The second Test will be held in Birmingham from July 2 to 6, followed by the third Test at Lord’s from July 10 to 14. The final two Tests will take place in Manchester and London.
