Following Rishabh Pant, another Indian star now injured! Leaves the field in pain during Test vs South Africa A

Ahead of the two-match Tests vs South Africa, Indian team has been given massive blow as star pacer faced a concerning injury.

India A and South Africa A are currently facing each other in a two-match unofficial Test series, which is being taken as a preparation for the upcoming home red-ball series against the Proteas, set to be played at the Eden Gardens and Guwahati Cricket Stadium. However, ahead of the two-match Tests, the hosts have faced yet another injury scare

It is worth noting that India A captain Rishabh Pant was also injured yesterday, and was sent off the field with Dhruv Jurel taking his duties as the wicketkeeper. Now, as the Indian team prepares for the upcoming South Africa Tests, they have been given yet another blow as another star player has suffered an injury.

Following Rishabh Pant’s injury the previous day, Indian star pacer Mohammed Siraj has now also faced an injury scare – during the final day of the second unofficial Test against South Africa A – as he faced a blow to his right hand when fielding. The impact was quite painful, which caused Siraj to leave the field and join their captain Pant in the dugout.

Mohammed Siraj joined India A after returning from the Australia white-ball tour. His bowling was quite impressive in the first innings, but his time on the field was cut short because of his injury. Siraj was hit on his right hand i.e. his bowling hand. Even the physios were visibly concerned when he was being escorted off the ground.

As the second-most outstanding pacer for India in Test cricket, Mohammed Siraj’s absence will be a significant hit to the team in the upcoming series. With the two-match Tests beginning in less than a week, Siraj is in a tight position to recover enough that he can begin bowling in the nets.

In case Mohammed Siraj is unable to recover in time and is labelled not fit for the South Africa Tests, Indian management is most likely going to call Akash Deep as his replacement in the playing XI. Akash has played 10 red-ball games for India and taken 28 wickets while averaging at 35.78. His best bowling figure was 6 wickets for 99 runs against England in July 2025.
