From Classmates to Soulmates: Have a look at R Ashwin’s Love story

R Ashwin finished his Test career ending up in winning himself a great name- as he bagged 537 wickets in Test cricket, along with 156 successes in ODI matches. Speaking about the IPL, Ashwin dismissed 187 batters. His wife, Prithi Narayanan often was spotted in the stands cheering for him.

Ashwin and Prithi Narayanan got married after the bowler led India to a win. The couple tied the knot on November 12, 2011. Speaking to 7 Cricket, Prothi revealed that they were classmates at one point of time.

“We kind of knew each other in middle school. We were classmates in school, that’s it. Nothing more than that,” Prithi revealed.
Ashwin also spoke about that time and how they could have even been in a relationship. “That was not the era of cell phones, right? You have to call somebody on the landline. Every time I called her on the landline, her father would pick up. So, what are the odds you’ll be in a relationship for such a long time?” he said.

Ashwin even spoke about the time they met during IPL, and he also proposed Prithi on the ground. “When you are in the IPL, you end up doing some things. That’s when I met her for the first time after a long time. Then we started going out. One fine day, I proposed to her at Chemplast Cricket Ground. The intention was not to propose; I was just taking her out,” he said.
