Gautam Gambhir returns back to India due to ‘Family Emergency’: Might return within a week
According to a source from Board of Control for Cricket in India, Gautam Gambhir has returned to India because of a family emergency, and might return within a week if everything goes well.
A source from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) revealed that India's head coach Gautam Gambhir, on Friday June 13, returned to the country because he had an emergency situation in his family.
The source stated that Gautam Gambhir had to fly back in order to visit his mother- who has been admitted to a hospital because of health complications.
"Yes. He's gone back (to India) for a family emergency," said the source.
In the absence of Gautam Gambhir, assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate is going to take the lead of the Indian team during their four-day Intra-squad match against India A.
It is believed that if everything goes well with his family situation, Gautam Gambhir is expected to return to England within a week.
