The Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy 2025 has been kicked off with some great performances. However, Ajinkya Rahane’s Mumbai dominated Railway and got a victory over them by a big margin of seven wickets.
On Wednesday, the first match of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025 was played. Where Mumbai started with some great intention and a strong statement for their competitors as they beat Railway by seven wickets. While batting first the Railway added 158 runs on board and lost 5 wickets in 20 overs.
In the reply, Mumbai chased the target very comfortably without any problem. The star performer of the match, Ajinkya Rahane, played a remarkable innings as he scored 62 runs off just 33 balls, including four boundaries and five massive sixes in his great knock. His quick batting helped his team to finish the game easily.

The star player Ajinkya Rahane has been retained by Shah Rukh Khan’s Kolkata Knight Riders for the upcoming IPL 2026 season. However, the team kept him for the same price Rs. 2 crore in which they bought him in last year’s auction. It’s still not confirmed that KKR might give him captaincy one more time in the next edition.
Star Indian player and skipper of the team, Suryakumar, was seen in the same form in a T20 series against Australia as he scored 47 runs off 30 balls and built a great partnership with Ajinkya Rahane. However, their opponents had a bad start as they lost their wickets early, but Mohammad Saif (48), Ravi Singh (26 off 19 balls) and Ashutosh Sharma (61 off 30 balls) helped them recover.

In Lucknow: Railways 158 for 5 in 20 overs (Mohammad Saif 48, Ashutosh Sharma 61; Shardul Thakur 1/15, Shivam Dube 1/11) lost to Mumbai 159 for 3 in 15.5 overs (Ajinkya Rahane 62, 47; Rahul Sharma 2/43) by 7 wickets.
In Lucknow: Chhattisgarh 133 for 9 in 20 overs (Shashank Singh 34; Yash Thakur 3/25, Harsh Dubey 2/13) beat Vidarbha 106 in 19.1 overs (Sourabh Majumdar 3/23, Shubham Agarwal 2/13, Ravi Kiran 2/10) by 27 runs.
