‘Haven’t been able to…’: Virat Kohli clears air on spending time in UK ahead of Australia ODIs

Ever since RCB won the IPL 2025, Virat Kohli was in United Kingdom with his wife and kids. Kohli now spoke about his time in UK.

Virat Kohli, one of the most well-known cricketers in the Indian team as of now, made a highly-hyped return to cricket as he donned the national jersey for the first time in over six months. Kohli last played an international match in the Champions Trophy 2025 held earlier this year- and now during the first match of the ODI series against Australia.

Ahead of the toss of the first ODI against Australia at Perth, Virat Kohli sat down with former Indian head coach Ravi Shastri and Aussie legend Adam Gilchrist. The three of them had a conversation, and that was when Kohli candidly spoke about his family time in the United Kingdom.

During the chats, Virat Kohli was asked about the last few months he spent in United Kingdom with his wife and kids. Actually what happened was, after Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) won the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, Kohli flew to UK and came back only for his flight to this tour.

Yeah, as I was just saying, just catching up on life. You know, I haven’t been able to do anything for the last, I don’t know how many years. And yeah, just being able to spend some time, some quality time with your kids, with family at home, it’s been a beautiful, beautiful phase, and something that I’ve really enjoyed. I am feeling fresh, looking fresh and fit – moving well in nets and fielding sessions,” Kohli said during the conversation.

Speaking about Virat Kohli, his return to ODI cricket was being highly-hyped, with fans flooding the stadium to witness the superstar in action. However, to everyone’s shock and disappointment, Kohli failed to impress everyone as he departed for an eight-ball-duck in the first match of the series: as he got caught out by Cooper Connolly off a delivery by Mitchell Starc.
