Alyssa Healy hints at ODI retirement after heartbreaking loss to India in the semi finals of the ICC Women's World Cup 2025.
However, after a great performance from the team in the semi-finals of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 in Navi Mumbai on Thursday. Australia captain Alyssa Healy dropped a major statement and also hinted about her retirement from ODI cricket.
During her post-match comments after losing the clash. Alyssa Healy gave a big hint that she might not be a part of the upcoming biggest contest of all time, the 2029 World Cup. However, she said that she “won’t be there” when the next edition takes place.
Australia captain Alyssa Healy had a tough day as her team struggled in an important match. After choosing to bat first a decision many questioned Australia scored 338 runs, but it still felt about 40 runs short of what they could have made.
In the second innings, the fielding went wrong too. Healy and a few other players dropped simple catches, and the team couldn’t keep pressure on India despite having good bowlers.
“I won’t be there!” Healy said when asked about Australia’s plans for the next World Cup. “Oh, I think that’s the beauty of this next cycle. We’re going to see that unfold. Obviously, there’s a T20 World Cup in the middle of next year, which is going to be really exciting for our group as well. But I think our one-day cricket is probably going to shift a little bit again. We did so much right, we’ll learn, grow, and get better.“
