ICC makes change in T20I Powerplay rules: How Batters or Bowlers will get more benefit from these changes?

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has made a massive decision and made changes to the powerplay rules in T20 Internationals.

The International ricket Council (ICC) announced new powerplay rules for the shortened T20 matches, and have clearly defined the number of overs that are allowed with restricted field in the new Playing Conditions of the shortest format of the game.

Before the change of rules, a 20-over game consisted of 6 overs- 30% of the overs- of the game being labelled as the powerplay. As per these conditions, only two players were allowed to stand outside the 30-yard mark.

In any match if rain affects and cuts the match time, overs used to be reduced. This affected the powerplay overs and a lot of times 30% overs could not be bowled as powerplay. However, now each team is guaranteed powerplay with specified listings.

Now the ICC has made changes in the old rules and have stated that even if any T20 International match is shortened due to rain or any other cause, the batting team is going to get 30% overs as powerplay.

This rule is going to be slightly not in favour of bowlers as they will have to be careful during these powerplay overs. T20I is a format where a couple balls can change the direction of the game, and in such a format, even the smallest mistakes in a shortened match can cause big trouble.
