India beat West Indies by 318 runs in Antigua to win the first Test of the two-match series with a day to spare.

Hanuma Vihari showed promise in the first innings before getting out for 32. While the right-hander missed out on his maiden Test hundred, he registered his highest score in Test cricket before getting out for 93. @AFP


Ajinkya Rahane, who had scored 81 in the first innings of the Test, notched up a hundred in the second innings, helping India to secure a big lead. This was Rahane’s 10th hundred in the longest format of the game. @AFP



Hanuma Vihari joined Rahane in the middle following Kohli’s dismissal and the two added 135 runs together, strengthening India’s grip on the first Test. While Rahane looked solid, the former took his chances and scored at brisk pace. @AFP


Ishant, who had scalped five wickets in the first innings – his ninth in Test cricket -, got three wickets in the second innings to end the match with eight wickets against his name. @AFP


Chasing 419 runs to win, West Indies were pushed on the backfoot by Jasprit Bumrah and Ishant Sharma. The former had managed to scalp only a wicket in the first innings. But he made up for the same and ran through the West Indies’ line-up in the second innings and returned with the figures of 5/7. @AFP


While Bumrah and Ishant scalped five and three wickets respectively, Mohammed Shami returned with the figures of 2/13 as India completed a 318-run win over West Indies to take 1-0 lead in the two-match Test series. @AFP
