After four years in the wilderness, Ganguly made the hallowed grounds his own. Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid, two of India’s best batsmen, made their Test debuts against England at The Lord’s. Ganguly went onto score a 100, Dravid was not so lucky and got out just 5 runs short of the landmark. Ganguly’s knock of 131 stood as the highest individual record scored by a debutant at Lord’s for 25 years.

At no. 3 is England’s former wicket-keeper batsman, Matt Prior. He scored a hundred on his debut against the Windies, taking just 105 deliveries and hitting 16 boundaries after coming in at number 7, and finishing on 126 not out. He became the first England wicket keeper to score a Test hundred on debut and the 17th English batsman to record the feat overall.

Strauss made his Test cricket debut at the age of 27 after being called into the team to replace the injured Michael Vaughan. He scored a century in the first innings of the match, played against New Zealand at Lord’s, his county home ground for Middlesex. He finished at 112 against the Kiwis.

Australia’s Harry Graham who also played international cricket for New Zealand, was the first player to score a Test hundred on debut at Lord’s. He scored 107 against England.
