Infographic: MS Dhoni and records galore

There is something magical about India’s limited-overs captain MS Dhoni. There may be talks of his powers waning and Midas touch getting lost, but the ‘Captain Cool’ has gone about his business in the usual nonchalant way and continued doing what he knows best — marshalling the troops with dignity and leading them from the front. In this journey, the Indian skipper has also reached some landmarks and collected some unique records. Recently, during India’s tour to Zimbabwe, Dhoni achieved some milestones such as he became the fourth wicketkeeper in the history of the game to effect 350 dismissals in One-Day Internationals (ODIs). He is now behind only the likes of Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara (482), Australian Adam Gilchrist (472) and South African Mark Boucher (424). Also with the win in the third and final ODI of the series, Dhoni has now equaled former Australian captain Allan Border in terms of most wins as an ODI captain. Both Dhoni and Border are tied on 107 wins while another Australian Ricky Ponting tops the list with an impressive figure of 165 wins.

Quite ironically, another record which Dhoni made after the series win was of being the second Indian captain to be involved in both home and away ‘whitewash’ series wins. The other one is his junior and successor in Tests, Virat Kohli, who achieved this feat without even taking the limited-overs captaincy full-time.
