It is cricket’s ultimate rivalry and it’s a contest that dates back to 1882.

It is cricket’s ultimate rivalry and it’s a contest that dates back to 1882. The Ashes, played between England and Australia, is currently held by the latter when they routed the Englishmen 5-0 in the summer of 2013-14 Down Under. The much awaited contest begins in the month of July and it is one of the major highlights of the sports calendar.

The above picture is of Investec Ashes Trophy at Cardiff Castle in Glamorgan. Investec is the official sponsor of the Test series .The trophy made an appearance at each of the Glamorgan Cricket Roadshows at the SWALEC Stadium in Cardiff, Llandarcy in Swansea and Parc Eiras in Colwyn Bay.

Australia might be the current holder of the Ashes, but they tasted three consecutive series loss in England since 2005, 2009 and 2013.This time around, they will look forward to reverse the trend. The first Ashes Test commences on July 8th in Cardiff.
