Kranti Gaud made significant contributions for Indian women's team in their successful World Cup campaign, and has now opened up about the struggles faced during her initial career.
While speaking to PTI Videos about her career so far, Kranti Gaud reminisced her initial time as a cricketer, where she spoke about Ghuwara- a small village in Madhya Pradesh- from where she belongs. Kranti said that she faced interruptions from her society, but also expressed her gratitude to the people who supported her in her early days.
“I am from a small village, so they didn’t allow girls to play and used to say that why are you allowing her to play with the boys? But I thought that one day, I will make them all clap for my performance,” Kranti said while speaking to PTI Videos about her nascent but remarkable career so far.
“And now those who used to taunt me and my family are applauding us. Now the women’s team is also improving and after the World Cup win it will go very far,” she said.
Speaking about Indian women’s victory in the ODI World Cup 2025, they created history as they beat South Africa by 52 runs- lifting their maiden title at the Dr. DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai in a rain affected match with captain Harmanpreet Kaur being more than happy to lead her side to the victorious campaign.
