After Rohit Sharma built a memorable partnership with Virat Kohli in the Sydney ODI vs Australia, Rohit spoke about his time on the field.

1 /1

Speaking about the match, Rohit Sharma addressed that he had not had a 100-run+ partnership with Virat Kohli for a long time, and the Sydney match was a great opportunity for them. Rohit also mentioned how the duo was constantly engaged in chatters and were enjoying their time.

Yeah, fantastic partnership after a long time. I think we hadn’t had a 100-run partnership for a long time. It was good to get that partnership for the team’s perspective looking at how we were placed at one point. We lost Gill early. Not early, I mean, we still managed to get 40, 45 and then Gill got out. So obviously we knew with Shreyas not being there, it was an added responsibility for the batters and it was a great partnership. We enjoyed every moment we spent out there. There was a lot of chatter between the two of us,” Rohit said in a video posted by BCCI.

Speaking about his play time with Virat Kohli, Rohit mentioned that they have played a lot of cricket together and they understand each other on the field. Rohit highlighted how the main focus stays on playing the game only, along with understanding what needs to be done at what point.

We played so much cricket together, we understand each other really well. It was about taking the game, understanding what was required at that point and it definitely comes with the experience as well. With so much experience between the two of us, we used it pretty well,” Rohit added.

This series was the first time both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were seen in action after a gap of over 7 months – having last represented India in the Champions Trophy 2025 held earlier this year. It is worth noting that both the batting stars are only active in the ODI format as they have already retired from the T20I and Test format.
