Mike Hussey’s final guard of honour in cricket

Mike Hussey has been a consistent outfit in whatever team or format he has featured in. Hussey played his final game as a professional cricketer on Australian soil in the final game of the 2016 Big Bash League (BBL). The decider was played between Sydney Thunder and Melbourne Stars at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

Thunder was chasing a target of 177 runs in their 20 overs and the task was always a difficult one as the pressure of finals was always around the corner. But they stuck to their guns and chased down the target to claim the title.

In the picture above, Melbourne Stars players are seen welcoming Hussey at the crease for one last time, the final farewell was captivating. BreatheSport’s official Twitter account posted a picture of this round of honour and wrote, “Farewell, Mr Cricket. Michael Hussey gets a standing ovation from the MCG. What a career! What a player! #BBLFinal”

Hussey in undoubtedly one of the greats to have played the gentlemen’s game of cricket. He’s a testament to the true spirit of the game as he has famously exhibited in his playing days.
