Mumbai Indians broke their ever-lasting record: THIS mistake cost them the whole match against PBKS

Coming in to bat first, Mumbai Indians scored 203 runs against Punjab Kings in the Qualifier-2 of the Indian Premier League 2025. However, a small mistake by MI led them to lose the match, and break their ever-lasting streak of a massive record.

MI lost by 5 wickets:
Mumbai Indians had to face a defeat by 5 wickets to Punjab Kings. MI’s batting lineup had managed to score 203 runs in their 20 overs. PBKS completed this chase in 19 overs with 5 wickets to spare, where skipper Shreyas Iyer played an explosive inning. He scored an unbeaten 87 off 41 balls. He also hit 8 sixes and 5 fours during his outing.

MI break their ever-lasting record streak:
In the history of IPL, whenever Mumbai Indians have scored 200 or more runs, they had been able to successfully defend it. However, this was the first time they could not manage to do so, and the team had to face a defeat even after scoring 203 runs.

MI bowlers failed to perform:
MI bowlers failed to perform well in this match. The team’s star pacer Jasprit Bumrah not only failed to take even a single wicket, but also gave out 40 runs. Other than him, a lot of runs also came from Trent Boult, Ashwani Kumar and Reece Topley.

Nehal Wadhera’s dropped catches cost MI their match:
During Mumbai Indians’ bowling, there were two times when Nehal Wadhera’s catches were dropped. During the 9th over, Nehal was given his first chance as Naman Dhir dropped one off a delivery by Mitchell Santner. On the very next over, Trent Boult dropped Wadhera’s catch. The PBKS batter was at 13 runs at the time, and scored a quick 29-ball-48. He even stitched up an 84-run partnership with Shreyas Iyer, making the victory ever so easy for his team.
