PCB expected to hand central contracts to Fakhar Zaman, Hasan Ali and Faheem Ashraf

After getting dropped last year, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is now expected to give central contracts to Fakhar Zaman, Hasan Ali and Faheem Ashraf for the 2025-26 year

Fakhar Zaman, Hasan Ali and Faheem Ashraf are expected to be included in Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) central contracts list for the 2025-26 season after being dropped last year. Although these contracts run from July 1 to June 30, the PCB had delayed the announcement of the central contracts last year until October.

These three players were excluded from the previous list due to poor performances and fitness issues, but their impressive performances in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) have brought them back into being reckoned for the contract.

A source from the board stated that the PCB management and national selectors have started thinking about the players that are to be given the new contracts in July. The source also stated that the top performers in the domestic circuit will be given the ‘D’ category.

The senior players in the team had an agreement with the PCB for a three-year financial structure for the central contracts in 2023, and this year is the last year of that agreement. The current player list has Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan in the top category.

The source also stated that there will not be any increase in the match fee of the players, and the financial structure is going to stay the same for the 2025-26 season as the PCB is not satisfied with the performance of the team.
