‘Plenty to offer…’: Mitchell Starc shares views on his ODI future after T20i retirement

Considering Mitchell Starc prioritizes Test cricket, has retired from T20Is, and is known for pulling out from the IPLs in order to focus on his fitness, fans have raised questions about his future in One-Day format. Starc himself has stated that he has potential left to partake in the ODI team.

“I umm-ed and ahh-ed about which was the right (format) to put to the side. If I wasn’t going to be in the frame for 2027 then I didn’t want to hold up the spot. I still feel like I’ve got plenty to offer that ODI team. I’d thought about it for a while. I feel like it was probably a good time. I’m 35 now, Tests have always been my priority and they will remain my priority,” he told Cricket.com.au.

Mitchell Starc made his debut in the T20I format in 2012, and played 65 matches in the 20-over format. He even bagged 79 wickets to his name while averaging at 23.81 and an economy of 7.74. Starc was even part of the Australian team that won the 2021 T20 World Cup.
