These are the players who showed immense maturity on their Test debuts and scored fantastic tons to push the opposing sides on the back-foot
1. Shikhar Dhawan (India) – 85 deliveries
The Australia batter played a sensational knock on debut in the longest format and smashed the Sri Lankan bowlers all around the stadium. Inglis showed immense maturity on debut and didn’t take much time to reach his century. He was eventually dismissed on 102.
2. Josh Inglis (Australia) – 90 deliveries
The West Indies all-rounder made his Test debut against South Africa in 2004 and scored a lightning-fast hundred. Smith played a fabulous knock on debut which pushed the Proteas on the back-foot. The debutant’s unbeaten knock of 105 saw the Windies draw the match.
3. Dwayne Smith (West Indies) – 93 deliveries
The out-of-favour India batter made a fantastic debut in red-ball cricket and scored a brilliant century against West Indies. Shaw showed immense maturity and played a class knock to decimate the opposing bowling attack. He was eventually dismissed on 134.
4. Prithvi Shaw (India) – 99 deliveries
The former England wicketkeeper-batter played a fabulous knock on his Test debut against West Indies at Lord’s in 2007. Prior went on to remain unbeaten on 126. He was an explosive batter, who used to play Test cricket like a limited-over format.
