Rashid Khan creates history! The Afghan star became the highest wicket-taker in T20Is with 165 scalps, surpassing Tim Southee during the UAE clash.

Rashid Khan World Record: Afghanistan’s superstar spinner Rashid Khan has etched his name in cricket history by becoming the highest wicket-taker in T20 Internationals. The 25-year-old achieved the milestone during the tri-series clash against the United Arab Emirates (UAE), overtaking New Zealand’s Tim Southee to claim the world record.

Rashid produced a brilliant spell, finishing with figures of 3/21 in four overs, as Afghanistan registered a comfortable 38-run victory over the UAE. With these three wickets, Rashid’s tally in T20Is now stands at 165 wickets in just 98 matches, showcasing his dominance in the shortest format. He surpassed Southee, who had 164 wickets in 126 matches.

This feat highlights Rashid’s remarkable consistency and strike rate. Among the leading wicket-takers in T20Is, Rashid not only tops the list but has also achieved it in fewer matches compared to his closest rivals.

Afghanistan bounce back with strong win

After a setback in their opening game against Pakistan, Afghanistan bounced back impressively to beat UAE by 38 runs in their second tri-series encounter. Batting first, Afghanistan posted a challenging total of 188/4. Opener Ibrahim Zadran top-scored with a fluent 63, while Sediqullah Atal supported him with a fine 54.

In reply, UAE could only manage 150/8 in their 20 overs. Alongside Rashid Khan’s heroics, Sharfuddin Ashraf also bowled a decisive spell, claiming three crucial wickets to further dent the UAE batting order.

This victory not only revived Afghanistan’s campaign in the tri-series but also marked a historic personal milestone for Rashid Khan, who continues to enhance his ever-growing reputation as one of the greatest T20 bowlers of all time.
