Ravi Shastri blames Rishabh Pant and Karun Nair for India’s 22-run loss against England at Lord’s

“The turning point for me in this Test match was, first of all, Rishabh Pant’s dismissal (in the first innings),” Shastri said on ‘The ICC Review’.

Karun Nair and KL Rahul took India to 41 for 1 in the second innings, but was a delivery by Brydon Carse took his leg stump. This wicket caused an opening in the lineup and the visitors were down to 82 for 7.

“Having said that, again at 40/1 (in the second innings), I thought that was a huge lapse in concentration from Karun Nair to leave a straight ball, a nothing ball, to leave it and open the door for England. I thought that the timing of that dismissal turned things around.” Ravi added.

It was for a collapse in the top-order batters from the Indian side that the team lost the Lord’s Test. With only the tail-enders and Ravindra Jadeja standing by the end, the visitors could not have done much, and the team was wrapped up for 170 runs in a chase of 193.
