The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 was temporarily suspended due to rising tensions between India and Pakistan. It has now been rescheduled, with the first match set to take place between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Kolkata Knight Riders at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on May 17. The tournament will conclude on May 30.

The 30-year-old has been named in West Indies’ ODI squads for the upcoming series against Ireland (May 21–25) and England (starting May 29), both of which clash with the IPL playoffs. RCB is still unsure when he’ll depart but hopes he can stay on for at least the final few league matches.

England’s big hitter trio Jacob Bethell, Liam Livingstone, and Phil Salt have arrived in Bengaluru. Among them, Salt’s return is the most important. The in-form opener has been in terrific touch this season and is likely to be available for the rest of the IPL. His selection for England’s T20I series against West Indies starts only on June 6, after the IPL ends.

Josh Hazlewood is currently recovering from a minor shoulder issue and is being monitored by Cricket Australia’s medical team. While the injury isn’t serious, RCB is still waiting for the official green light for his return.
Ngidi’s IPL spot unclear due to WTC Final
Ngidi, who stepped in for Hazlewood against CSK on May 3, has also been selected for South Africa’s WTC final squad, making his participation in the IPL’s final stages uncertain.
