Former Indian captain Rohit Sharma achieved a significant milestone during the ODI series against Australia. He played his 500th international match in the match against Australia. He became the fifth Indian player to achieve this feat. Rohit also joined Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli in the elite list of players who have played the most international matches for India.
1) Sachin Tendulkar
India’s legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar has played the most international matches for India. He played 664 matches for India, scoring 34,357 runs. He has 100 centuries to his name.
2) Virat Kohli
India’s superstar batter Virat Kohli ranks second on the list of players who have played the most international matches for India. Kohli has played 551 matches, scoring 27,599 runs with 82 centuries.
3) MS Dhoni
Former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni ranks third on the list of players with the most international appearances. He played 535 matches, scoring 17,092 runs. Dhoni has 15 centuries to his name.
4) Rahul Dravid
India’s legendary batsman Rahul Dravid is fourth on this list. He played 504 international matches for India, scoring 24,064 runs with 48 centuries.
5) Rohit Sharma
Rohit Sharma has joined the list of players who have played the most international matches for India. Rohit Sharma has played 500 international matches for India, scoring 19,701 runs with 49 centuries.
