Sachin Tendulkar slams DRS umpire’s call, explains why MS Dhoni’s batted before Yuvraj Singh in 2011 World Cup final

Sachin Tendulkar calls for scrapping the DRS umpire’s call rule, saying technology should decide in or out, nothing in between.

Sachin Tendulkar on Umpire Call rules: India’s greatest batsman Sachin Tendulkar has answered many questions of cricket fans on social media. Apart from giving a statement on Joe Root, he has also given his opinion on sending Dhoni before Yuvraj in the 2011 World Cup. During this, Sachin, in response to a question from the fans, talked about a change in a rule of cricket.

‘I want a change in DRS rule on umpire’s call’

Sachin Tendulkar said that I want a change in DRS rule on umpire’s call. The players decided to go up because they were not happy with the umpires’ decision, so there should be no option to go back on that decision.

‘Technology will continue to be wrong even if it is wrong’

Sachin Tendulkar said, just like players have bad times, umpires also have bad days, but technology will continue to be wrong even if it is wrong.

Sachin was in support of abolishing umpire’s call even in 2020

This is not the first time Sachin Tendulkar has spoken about umpire’s call. Earlier in the year 2020 also, he had supported abolishing umpire’s call. He had said that if there is even a slight contact of the ball during ball tracking, then the batsman should be given out. In DRS, umpires’ calls are running on the rule of benefit of dot. Sachin had also mentioned this during a chat with West Indies legend Brian Lara. Sachin had said that when the decision goes to the third umpire, let the technology do its job, either in or out, there should be nothing in between.

In the 2011 World Cup final, he had given the advice to send Dhoni before Yuvraj

In the 2011 ODI World Cup final, it was Sachin’s idea to send Dhoni to bat before Yuvraj. Coach Gary Kirsten took this decision on Sachin’s advice. Talking about this, Sachin said that there were two reasons for this, first was the left-right combination and second, Dhoni had played with Muralitharan in the nets in Chennai Super Kings from 2008-2010.
