1. 194 vs India, Chennai, 1997

After only managing to post a total of 185 in the first innings, Pakistan bowlers performed well and only let India take a lead of 38 runs. In their second innings, Anwar single-handedly carried them over the 300-run mark. The opener scored an amazing ton and remained unbeaten throughout the inning as the visitors got bundled out for 323. His knock massively helped Pakistan in giving India a fighting target of 279.

2. 188* vs India, Kolkata, 1999

After dismissing the hosts for 326 in the first innings, Pakistan stepped out to bat and got off to a fantastic start thanks to Anwar. The opening batter played a brilliant inning and was given good assistance by Aamer Sohail and Ijaz Ahmed. After Anwar’s dismissal, batter Saleem Malik would also go on to score a ton as the visitors would post a humongous first inning total of 521/8 before declaring.

3. 176 vs England, London, 1996

The brilliant Pakistan bowling attack would dismiss the hosts for only 185 runs in the first innings before Anwar showed his class with a fabulous knock. He would dismantle the Kiwi bowling attack with an incredible batting display. His dismissal didn’t end the struggle of the opposing bowlers as both Saleem Malik and Inzamam-ul-Haq would also go onto score centuries to take the visitors to the massive total of 548/5 before declaring.

4. 169 vs New Zealand, Wellington, 1994

The Pakistan bowlers did a great job by bowling out the Black Caps for 249 runs in the first innings. In reply, Anwar would lead the hosts from the front with an excellent century. He would form a brilliant 262-run stand with Ijaz Ahmed who also went on to score a century. These 2 knocks carried Pakistan to a gigantic total of 430. The total would prove to be too much for the visitors who would get bowled out for 168 runs and lose the match by an innings and 13 runs.
