Shikhar Dhawan

Soon the large hearted smile, twirling of moustache and slapping of thighs could be a regular occurrence in the dance-reality television show, ‘Nach Baliye 7’. Since the show’s inception in 2005, it has garnered good TRPs with celebrity couples competing and vying for the trophy.

The seventh season of ‘Nach Baliye’ sees a change in format with producers opting for wild-card entries. According to a report in IANS, the popular show is looking forward to cash-in on Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan’s popularity. It’s reported that Dhawan and his wife Ayesha have been approached by the makers of the competition to enter the show as a wild-card entry. Dhawan, who recently played for Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) had a mixed season and is free at the moment with his side failing to make it to the play-offs.

A source was quoted as saying, “We are in talks with Shikhar Dhawan to make a special wild card entry to the show. It will shake things up and it will be good to see him perform on the stage with us.”

Produced by Ekta Kapoor, the Star Plus show witnessed twists and turns in this season. Choreographer Marzi Pestonji, Bollywood actress Preity Zinta and famous author Chetan Bhagat form the elite judge panel. Dhawan is known for his charming personality and it is clear that if he comes to Nach Baliye, there will be plenty of fun in store.

Earlier West Indian all-rounder Kieron Pollard was also approached by Nach Baliye. Things have not materialised yet with the cricketer who at present is busy rendering his services to Mumbai Indians (MI), who will play the final of IPL this season.
