Sunrisers Hyderabad came into IPL 2025 as one of the favourites
The Hyderabad-based franchise came into the tournament with a lot of excitement surrounding them. The Pat Cummins-led side raced to a brilliant victory in their opening match against the Rajasthan Royals. However, they slumped to 3 consecutive losses following the emphatic victory.
SRH's disappointing start to the IPL 2025 season
Following 3 consecutive losses against the Lucknow Super Giants, Delhi Capitals and the Kolkata Knight Riders respectively, SRH have just been able to accumulate 2 points in their first four matches. They currently sit at the bottom of the table with a net run-rate of -1.61.
SRH invested highly in aggressive batters in IPL 2025 auction
The Sunrisers Hyderabad mostly made the right moves at the mega auction held in Jeddah last year. They invested highly in aggressive batters as expected and had formed a formidable team by the end of the auction.
SRH owner Kavya Maran's mistake at the auction
Though SRH played most of their cards right, they did end up making a big mistake. The Hyderabad-based franchise decided to bring in all-rounder Abhinav Manohar instead of hard-hitter Abdul Samad and this move has proved to be costly for them as the former hasn't been able to impress at all.
Abdul Samad was an important player for SRH last season
Samad proved to be an important finisher for the Hyderabad-based franchise last season and had a strike-rate of 168. Despite performing well with the bat, SRH decided to release him and did not consider buying him in the auction. Instead, they opted to acquire Manohar's services for INR 3.2 crore.
Samad impresses for LSG in IPL 2025
Abdul Samad's services were acquired by the Lucknow Super Giants for INR 4.2 crore at the IPL 2025 mega auction. In 3 matches he has played for LSG so far, Samad has a total of 53 runs under his name with an astonishing strike-rate of 240.90.
Manohar fails to live up to expectations for SRH
Abhinav Manohar came to the SRH team with a lot of expectations, but after three matches, the decision to buy him for 3.20 crores is proving to be bad. He has scored only 6 runs in 3 matches. Manohar was not even sent to bat against KKR.
