Shubman Gill misses out as KL Rahul appointed Indian captain for South Africa ODIs

As Shubman Gill is facing a neck injury, the BCCI decided to appoint KL Rahul as the new captain for the upcoming ODIs vs South Africa.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the squad for the upcoming ODI series against South Africa. The lineup witnessed a massive change as senior batter KL Rahul got named as the captain since regular skipper Shubman Gill sustained a neck injury.

Shubman Gill is generally the appointed ODI captain of the Indian team, but since he got ruled out of the (currently ongoing) Test series against South Africa with a neck injury that he sustained during the first Test against South Africa in Kolkata, the selectors showed their faith in KL Rahul.

Wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant is the deputy of KL Rahul for the series. The ODI games are going to begin on November 30 in Ranchi followed by matches in Raipur (December 3) and Visakhapatnam (December 6).
