Sri Lankan star cricketer announces sudden Retirement, Will play his last match against THIS team

Angelo Mathews is going to end his career in red-ball cricket after the first Test match against Bangladesh. he stated on his social media account that he will be available to play the limited over format whenever and however his country needs him.

It is to be noted that Angelo has not played for Sri Lanka for any limited-overs match for more than a year. Apart from that, the upcoming Test against Bangladesh is going to be his 119th and the final red-ball match of his career.

Sri Lanka’s schedule for the Test series is now going to be very limited- for about a year, and Matthews has decided to retire from the format after making his debut in 2009 after being a major part of the team since then.

Angelo Mathews has captained Sri Lanka in 34 Test matches- which even included the historic win at Headingley in 2014 where he scored 160 runs in an innings.

As a batsman, Angelo has scored 8167 runs so far, securing him the third place- marking him the third place in the all-time best list of Sri Lankan batters. He has also scored 16 centuries in the format with an overall average of 44/62
