Former Indian cricketer Kasran Ghavri slammed ROhit Sharma, Virat Kohli and other young Indian players for not listening to piece of advise by legend Sunil Gavaskar.

Former players like Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, VVS Laxman and Virender Sehwag are some of the players whose career were filled with incidents where they took help from Sunil Gavaskar, and even brought out positive outcomes.

Former Indian pacer Karsan Ghavri is not quite a fan of players ignoring such a legend. Karsan finds it very sad that neither any of the current player in the Indian team look up to Sunil Gavaskar, nor do they reach out to him for any piece of information.

Gavaskar has been doing commentary for the last 25 years. His comments are so precious to any young player. It’s very unfortunate that our own players don’t go to him for any advice. Even players from outside go to him. Every Indian batter should go to him, including Shubman Gill. I don’t know whether he’s gone to him or not, but if he hasn’t, he should,” Ghavri said on the Vickey Lalwani Show.

Karsan Ghavri then spoke about the alleged reports of Rohit Sharma did not going by Gavaskar’s ways. A few months ago, it was reported that Rohit complained to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) about the legend and what he said about him during India’s tour of Australia for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy earlier this year.

The tensions between Sunil Gavaskar and Virat Kohli during the last IPL season also made headlines as the Sunil said something about Kohli and his strike-rate which he did not like. Considering these incidents, Ghavri believes that Gavaskar does not deserve this level of disrespect and that his criticism should be taken in a positive manner.

It is nonsense. You may be Rohit Sharma or Virat Kohli. They must respect the great man. Because if he tells you something or is advising you on something, that is for their own good. Ravi Shastri is an open-hearted guy. When it comes to criticising somebody, he will do it, but Sunil does it in a very different manner. He is known for saying things totally different to Ravi Shastri,” he pointed out.
