Tony Abbott and Eoin Mogan: When the leaders met

It’s a new beginning for English cricket in One-Day Internationals (ODI) format. Ahead of the World Cup, which starts exactly a month from now, Eoin Morgan took charge of the side, which has performed below par in the recent times.

The England captain, in his first assignment took on Prime Ministers XI at Manuka Oval, Canberra on Wednesday. This game acts as the practice match for the English cricket team ahead of the tri-series featuring Australia and India, beginning on Friday.

In the above photograph, we see Morgan having a chat with Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott, who is believed to be a huge cricket fan.

Though Morgan could only contribute seven with the bat, the change at the top did seem to inject some enthusiasm in the England batting, as they out on a massive 391 for six in their 50 overs. Ian Bell scored 187 from 145 balls, while Moeen Ali and James Taylor, both chipping in with quick 71.
