1. Anil Kumble, 1996 – 61 wickets

With over 900 wickets under his name, Kumble is not only the Indian bowler with the most wickets in international cricket but also the 4th highest wicket-taker in international cricket history. In 1996, we saw the best of Kumble as he took wickets for fun in the ODI format.

2. Ajit Agarkar, 1998 – 58 wickets

Agarkar wreaked havoc for the batsmen in ODIs during his debut year as he kept on taking wickets in all the ODI series throughout the year.

He is the first left-arm bowler on the list. Kuldeep took a total of 15 wickets in the 2023 World Cup, the second-most in the tournament for an Indian spinner behind Jadeja. He was also influential for the Men in Blue in ODI series throughout the year.

The left-arm pacer had an amazing debut year as he racked up tons of wickets for India in the one-day format. His in-swingers were really impressive in particular and sometimes proved to be unplayable for even the best of batsmen.
