‘You have compromised…’: Shubman Gill slammed for dropping Kuldeep Yadav from Perth ODI

As Shubman Gill decided to bench Kuldeep Yadav from the first ODI against Australia, former Indian batter slammed him.

After the match, Mohammad Kaif praised Kuldeep Yadav as a “wicket-taking” bowler and Shubman Gill over his choice to keep him benched. On top of that, Kaif even namedropped Shane Warne as an example, who has achieved success for Australia while playing variety of formats.

“It was a test of all the bowlers and Gill as well. He did not play Kuldeep in the XI. You covered everything but did not play a wicket-taking bowler. Shane Warne was successful in all formats in Australia. I was disappointed that Kuldeep did not play. Kuhnamann bagged two wickets. You have compromised with quality for quantity,” Kaif said on his YouTube channel.

Being a key player for India in the recently-concluded Asia Cup 2025, Kuldeep Yadav has been in great form. He bowled in 7 innings and bagged 17 wicket at an economy of 6.27 and average of 9.29. Kuldeep was also the highest wicket-taker in the tournament.
