Almost a week after India's heartbreaking loss at Lord's, former head coach Ravi Shastri has shared his opinion on where the match fell out of the team's hands.

Sharing his views about the loss, former Indian head coach Ravi Shastri stated that either Ravindra Jadeja or Nitish Kumar Reddy should have taken the responsibility of scoring runs at a faster rate than what they did.

I thought the time was before lunch you know when Jadeja and Nitish Reddy were there one of the two should have gone a little more because the field was up ball was a little harder. Once it got softer than you knew there would be one delivery with your name written on it. At some stage, I thought they could have taken more chances and brought that deficit quicker to about 40. Then they could’ve played the way that they did,” Shastri said in a video on The Overlap Cricket YouTube channel.

With the loss at Lord’s the Indian team is currently trailing the series 1-2, but Ravi Shastri firmly believes that the Shubman Gill-led side might have easily secured the series by now if they had taken their chances at the critical moments.

If India had seized their moments it could have well been 3-0. Having said that, I thought England showed a lot of character first at Leeds and then uh again on that final day you know at Lords where the captain put his hand up hold those long spells and uh put his neck on the line and pulled it off,” Ravi noted.
