Ashok Dinda made his debut in a T20I match against Sri Lanka in 2009, and Sanath Jayasuriya was his first international victim. Since then, he has made occasional appearance in the limited overs format, but has not been as impressive at the international level as he has been for Bengal.
He made his First-Class debut in November 2005 against Maharashtra, but it was in the following season that he impressed with 26 wickets. The best was yet to come, and in 2008-09 he picked up 42 wickets, which paved the way to an India cap.
Two seasons later he bettered his performance with 59 wickets which once again brought him back into the national team. He played eight ODIs and six T20s before being dropped. He was among the leading wicket takers in 2013-14 with 42 wickets and also made it to the Rest of India team.
The headband and the high jump at the end of the bowling run-up are among the unique features of the Bengal pacer. He also possesses a good slower ball.
In the IPL, he started with Kolkata Knight Riders before moving to Delhi Daredevils followed by Pune Warriors India and then to Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 2014 edition.
