1st ODI in PICS: Debutants Krishna, Krunal Shine to Give India 1-0 Lead vs England
IN PICS: ICC World Cup 2019, England vs West Indies, Match 19
Mark Wood is a right arm fast-medium bowler born in Northumberland. He developed his cricket skills playing for his home side at various age-group levels. He rose through the ranks and made his way to the Durham side in the county championship.
Not an express bowler, Wood has relied mainly on bowling fuller lengths accompanied with use of swing for his wickets. He possesses an ability to generate decent orthodox swing as well as reverse swing which is reflected in his amazing averages in the county circuit.
Apart from picking wickets, he also pitches in with the bat and boasts a decent batting average in the 20s. It is probably his penchant to score a few runs lower down the order clubbed with his wicket-taking ability that coaxed England selectors into picking him for the national side in 2015.
