ICC World T20 2016, New Zealand overview: Minus Brendon McCullum, Black Caps aim for the first title
Nathan McCullum with his wife Vanessa
New Zealand vs Zimbabwe, 1st ODI, Dunedin (Feb 3, 2012)
Nathan McCullum is a all-rounder who can be explosive down the order and send down accurate off-breaks. He made his debut for Otago in 1999-2000, but took some time to reach the big stage.
Though selected among the 30-man probables for the squad for 2006 Champions Trophy, McCullum failed to make it. His long-awaited debut came in World T20 2007, but his career did not take off.
A specialist in the limited-over formats, Nathan played a crucial role in leading the team to the semi-finals of World Cup 2011. A recognised T20 player, he has turned up for Lancashire, Glamorgan, Pune Warriors India and Sydney Sixers. He also played a good role in the ICC World T20 at Bangladesh in 2014.
Though his performances have generally been overshadowed by younger brother (and captain) Brendon, Nathan’s late arrival in the squad has not been too late. Despite his growing age, he keeps on improving with every game.
