Hailing from Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, Rishi Dhawan made his First-Class debut at a mere 19. Known for subtle variations in bowling, Dhawan is preferred by teams in limited-overs cricket. He has done well with both bat and ball, and has had an excellent First-Class record so far. He played a few matches for Mumbai Indians in IPL 6 before Kings XI Punjab bought him in the 2014 auctions. Though he did not play all the games in IPL 7, he did fairly well in the opportunities that he got.
Averaging 40 with bat and 26 with ball, Dhawan has been an integral part of the Himachal Pradesh Ranji Trophy side over the past few years. Unfortunately, he seldom got going in IPL.
The international debut came on India’s 2015-16 tour of Australia, where he could not make the most of his 3 opportunities. Despite that, he is still looked upon as someone who can bowl seam and add dependency with bat in the middle-order. He made a comeback on the 2016 tour of Zimbabwe, where he played a T20I. Once again, he did not make an impact.
